Casual is a definite...

Being a casual photographer has its pros and cons...
Pros: You get to take pictures whenever you want.
Cons: Your photography goes in spurts.
Needless to say, it has been quite a while since I've actually picked up my camera and shot anything. Granted, I've SEEN lots of things I should have photographed, but have not actually put forth the effort.
BAD me - I must spank myself.
So, this weekend, my wife and I were slaving over a home project we should have have to undertake (more on that in another blog with many sad pictures) and I noticed this dragonfly sitting atop this very hot decorative piece of metal which is embedded in a raised garden. After a few attempts at getting close enough to get a decent shot, (keep in mind... it's been a while and I'm no longer "stealthy") I finally was able to snap off several photographs, this one being my favorite.
The little guy watched me for a while, flew off and brought back a friend. I have a new favorite photographic subject - dragonflies. I plan on doing some research to find out what I need to grow to attract these guys.... just love em!
Note to self: The next time you buy a house and you HEAR that there used to be a water garden in the back yard, go jump up and down a lot in the back yard to see if the yard collapses...
